Sunray Community Farm

About Sunray Community Farm
Sunray Community Farm is an in-development educational regenerative farm, nursery, and community space located at 411 Wemple Road in Glenmont, New York. We are currently focused on establishing the infrastructure, gardens, orchards, and systems needed to support the farm's long-term growth.
Our mission is to produce food, plants, and educational opportunities while helping people build a stronger connection to the land. Through farming, workshops, and community events, we hope to share practical skills related to gardening, agriculture, ecology, and community self-reliance.
We use no synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, or fungicides. Instead, we focus on building healthy soils, supporting biodiversity, and creating resilient growing systems that improve over time.
Our nursery emphasizes perennial fruit and nut plants, along with select native plants, annuals, vegetables, and herbaceous perennials. We work to reduce waste by growing many plants in biodegradable Fertilpots and offering a pot return credit program for reusable nursery containers.
Whenever possible, we create fertility on-site through compost, cover crops, leaf mulch, wood chips, and the manure produced by chickens, rabbits, worms, and other farm animals. By cycling nutrients locally, we reduce outside inputs and strengthen the long-term health of the farm.
As the farm develops, we hope to become a welcoming place where people can learn, participate, explore new ideas, and gain the confidence to grow some of their own food and plants. Whether someone is planting their first garden, adding a fruit tree to their landscape, or exploring regenerative agriculture, we hope Sunray Community Farm can serve as a resource and gathering place for the community.
Educational Kids Programming
At Sunray Community Farm, we believe some of life's best lessons happen outdoors. We are currently developing educational programs that help children connect with gardening, food, ecology, and the rhythms of the seasons through hands-on experiences.
Planned offerings include summer programs, homeschool workshops, family friendly events, gardening classes, and other opportunities to learn from the land.
We also welcome inquiries from schools, homeschool groups, scouting organizations, and community groups interested in field trips and educational visits.
More details will be announced as our programs take shape. We look forward to growing and learning together.
