Introduction to Ikenobo Flower Arranging

Join us for a new event – a lecture about the Ikenobo school of Japanese flower arranging (ikebana), followed by a demonstration of one modern style within the Ikenobo school. Ikenobo is the origin of ikebana and a Japanese art form that uses flowers to reflect the passing of time and the feelings of the arranger’s own heart. Creating an arrangement trains the designer to observe and meditate on the beauty of nature and gain inner peace. Other principles include minimalism, shape and line, form, humanity, aesthetics, and balance. The instructor will introduce and demonstrate some of the principles and processes which the participants can use at home. Class enrollment is limited. Please register by May 28.
