Campers learn to make backpacks through repurposing old clothing, make native crafts that are both functional and artistic, hike through different landscapes and learn about which plants are useful to us as human beings, either through food, medicine, colorful dyes or tools.
Woodcraft, carving, leathercrafting, art, music, storytelling, leadership and games are all part of this intense program, where we come together as a tribe and discover the ways of the Dreamtime, the Aborigine philosophy of living close to the land. We'll make simple dijeridoos, and learn to play them, as well as other musical instruments, and find out how we can infuse our world with our own art and expression.
Campers sleep in hand made timber framed cabins in our comfortable wilderness camp, share hearty, healthy, home cooked meals and work in small groups with experienced staff to insure quality instruction and positive results with their skills and crafts. We aim for a transformative, powerful experience that will literally change the way your kids see the woods and themselves, through developing REAL skills and leadership.
We are located in Cherry Valley, NY near Cooperstown, in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains. Established in 1989.
