Enjoy a day of family friendly historical programming!
As part of the inaugural Family History Day event, the New York State Museum will offer many interactive activities for children and adults. This will include the following programming.
- A family-friendly tour of the newest exhibit, “Each One Inspired” with Dr. Gwen Saul, New York State Museum Curator of Ethnography.
- New York State Museum Senior Historians will provide highlights from various collections.
- Learn about historic medicine from the American Revolution with Interpretive Historian Paul Supley.
- Hands-on opportunities to try on clothing and to play with games and toys from the Revolutionary Era
- Make and take crafts to bring home.
- Complete American Revolution themed coloring sheets
- Participate in a Historical scavenger hunt.
Visit information tables from historically focused cultural institutions.

Jack Kelly Presents: God Save Benedict Arnold: The True Story of America’s Most Hated Man
This will be a CTLE-certified program for educators.
About the Presenter
Jack Kelly is a journalist, novelist, and historian whose books include Band of Giants, which received the DAR’s History Award Medal, and God Save Benedict Arnold: The True Story of America’s Most Hated Man. He has contributed to national periodicals, including the Wall Street Journal, and is a New York Foundation for the Arts fellow. He has appeared on The History Channel and was interviewed on National Public Radio. He grew up in a town in the Erie Canal corridor near Palmyra and now lives in New York’s Hudson Valley.
