December Break STEM Workshops: "Astronomy Day" at miSci

It's Astronomy Day at miSci! Elementary-school-aged kids can sign up for the day or for a three-hour session for hands-on STEM fun!

Morning for grades K-2: Our Friend the Moon--Use your senses to explore our nearest astronomical neighbor, the moon! Learn about the shape and size of the moon and play with simulated lunar soil and rocks to explore what it might be like to visit the moon as an astronaut. 
Afternoon for grades K-2: Space Academy-Cosmic Kids--In this class,you work as a highly specialized crew, designing an experiment that will help you understand your mission.  You will then travel aboard the International Space Station onto a Space Craft where you will conduct scientific experiments like NASA astronauts.  This class is all hands-on!
Morning for grades 3 to 5: Space Academy-Exploration Station--Space Station, this is Mission Control we are testing the communication link.  Imagine you are a science team that is working to launch a probe into a comet!  You are an elite team of engineers and astronauts that will us a variety of  experiments to learn more about how NASA personal need to work together to have a successful mission experience.  This class is all hands-on!
Afternoon for grades 3 to 5: Solar Explorer--Learn about our sun, what it’s made of, and how it moves across the day time sky. Safely observe the sun through a telescope (if the weather cooperates) and made your own model of the sun- solar flares and sunspots included.
