Celebrate the Earth at the farmers' market!

*The event has already taken place on this date: Wed, 06/05/2019
Wednesday, June 5, is both World Environment Day and market day! As a farmers' market, we are all about local food and love helping the environment by providing our community with locally produced, naturally grown foods. But we can always do more! Here are some activities you can expect on Wednesday...

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

- Kids' craft: design your own reusable market bag! Use some "ugly" veggies to stamp your design on a tote bag made out of an upcycled T shirt.

- Bicycle Benefits: ride your bike to the market, purchase a $5 Bicycle Benefits sticker to put on your helmet or bike, and receive a $2 market token to spend at any vendor! What's more, ride your bike to the market and show your sticker at the shed during the outdoor season, you'll receive a $2 token every time! Get a bunch of discounts at participating stores and businesses around town, too.

- Plastic bags: learn about our new plastic bag policy, which will be fully rolled out by the end of June. We will be putting the New York State plastic bag ban for 2020 into action a year early! But not to fret, we have a "take a bag, leave a bag" tote station at the shed, and this Wednesday we'll have a sale on canvas market totes - now only $10 (instead of $15)!

- Learn from the community: Sustainable Saratoga will be stopping by and sharing their projects and resources with us! Look for their table under the pavilion during the market to learn all about what they are doing and how you can help.

- Bring your compost: did you know we have a compost program at the market? Bring your compost to our bin during any market, and our farms will use it to grow new food - full circle!

Like every week, we will have delicious local produce and products and great live music. See you there!
