Capital Repertory Theatre
To fulfill its mission, Capital Repertory Theatre is committed to: providing significant, high-quality theatre for all people of the Capital Region; ensuring that every student in the fourteen-county Capital Region experiences live theatre before high school graduation; taking a leadership role in defining New York's Tech Valley as a cultural destination point; and making its name synonymous with quality in every aspect of the theatre, from the actors, productions, education programs, customer service, and civic leadership. Whether on stage or in the community, Capital Repertory Theatre garners praise for excellence. Because of the theatre's proximity to New York City, adult and student audiences take delight in seeing young professionals sharing the Capital Rep stage with seasoned professionals, who are often seen Off and On Broadway, on television and film. After almost 30 years as the only LORT theatre within fourteen counties, Capital Repertory Theatre continues to set the standard for professionalism in theatre arts for more than 80,000 residents and visitors to the Upper Hudson Valley every year. Capital Repertory Theatre has earned numerous awards for excellence, including two Kennedy Center New American Play Awards and two CBS/Dramatist Guild Awards. Capital Repertory Theatre has also received a PEW Charitable Trust Residency Grant, a National Endowment for the Arts Artist-in-Residence Award and a TCG Playwright-in-Residence Award. The theatre continues to garner praise from the community and is proud to be honored year after year in categories as Best Year Round Theatre, Best Theatre to See a Play and Best Year Round Professional Theatre Company.
