Learn sketching techniques step by step from home with weekly lessons guided by professional artists! Drawing Foundations is a great online art enrichment program for artists everywhere. The program is designed to complement Canadian school curriculum guidelines and is thoughtfully planned every term with the latest art trends and design innovations in mind.

Over the course of four full days, participants will explore the techniques and aesthetics that define Japanese-style kitchen blades. Students will use Blue #2 zenko (mono steel) stock to forge a chef’s knife by hand. The class will focus on the basics of forging, heat treating, grinding, and sharpening our blades. In addition to forging and finishing the blade, the class will emphasize traditional Wa handle making and fitting, demonstrating how to achieve the clean functional design.

Free event middle schoolers through adults, Saturday June 6th, 9:30- noon. Organized by USRowing to bring attention to the sport of rowing and the lifelong benefits it can provide. Albany Rowing Center participates in this event by offering community members the opportunity to experience rowing on the Hudson River for free. The intent of the event is to educate and make community members aware of rowing in the Capital Region.

Our Wildlife Festival takes place annually on the first weekend of June, and this year’s event will be held on Sunday, May 31st, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The festival coincides with the stunning bloom of wild blue lupines and the emergence of the first brood of the endangered Karner blue butterfly—truly a sight to behold! It is a celebration of wildlife and the natural world, where we bring together local environmental, conservation, recreation, and educational organizations for an enriching experience. The Wildlife Festival offers an opportunity to connect with nature while learning about our local ecosystem, and participating in fun activities such as themed booths, interactive shows, craft stations, and much more! This event is the perfect opportunity to celebrate the natural world and engage with a passionate community of nature enthusiasts.
