A tour of the herb garden at Shaker Heritage Society will introduce you to the Shaker inventions we are still using today and to some of the uses for the 150 herbs in the garden -- including some plants you may only think of as weeds!! Event will be held indoors if it is raining.

Come celebrate National Pollinator Week at Shaker Heritage!  The Shakers developed the first seed packing industry and the first herbal medicine industry in the US. Learn about the Shaker inventions we are still using today and explore 150 herbs in the garden -- including some plants you may only think of as weeds!! Bring a picnic for after the tour.  

Possibly best known for their furniture and architecture, the Shakers are recognized as one of the most successful utopian societies in America.  They were revolutionary in their beliefs of gender and racial equality, and their quest for perfection resulted in many inventions and innovations.
