The Schenectady Theater for Children, Inc. (STC) is a not-for-profit, adult volunteer company dedicated to bringing live theater to local children during their school day. The cast and supporting technical crew include volunteers from all over the Capital Region, who are committed to our mission to inspire youth to get involved in the arts.
From the beginning, the goal of STC has been to bring our shows to area schools at little or no cost to children and their parents.

To accomplish this, the acting and technical work is done solely by volunteers. Funding to cover the cost of transportation, costumes, scenery, makeup, props, royalties and director/producer stipends is provided in part by grants, school donations, parent-teacher organizations, and by tax-deductible memberships.

STC draws heavily upon the talents of the local community not only for financial support, but also for actors, crew members, original costume and set designs, original music and scripts.
